I am looking for the Scottish Gaelic translation of "Companion" and "Caregiver" I understand that caregiver might not translate, and if that is the case I would like the word for "One who takes care of another"
Thank you

companion =
companachThe term "caregiver" is fairly modern in its current broad meaning in English, which can range from someone who comes in to assist with basic home health care all the way up to a nurse or doctor. In that broad sense, you might use
neach-aire in Gaelic, but I'm not sure that would convey the specific sense of health care, since it can also mean a "caretaker" of a facility, but the context could make clear what was meant. A variation which I haven't seen personally, but which makes logical sense, would be
neach-chùram, which is more or less "care person", using a term for "care" which is often used to refer to caring for a person. The Scottish government might have a bureaucratic equivalent of "caregiver", but the online dictionary of Gaelic terms used by the Scottish Executive doesn't seem to be working anymore (it may have moved to a new site).
