Very cool!

Do you ever watch "An Jig Gig" on TG4, Saoirse? I must admit, I'm a bit of a fan. They get some really innovative acts such as this group competing side-by-side with very traditional dance groups...it makes for a fascinating mix! (and Breandán de Geallaí is pretty easy on the eyes!).

Ní fhaca mé é, ach beidh mé ag faire amach. Thosaigh m'iníon i ranganna rinnce an tseachtain seo caite.

I didn't see it, but I'll keep an eye out. My daughter started Irish dancing lessons last week.

I have no interest in the fake tan and wigs brigade so hoping that all that can be avoided. It's becoming more and more like the American pagent carry-on. Not my scene at all.

I'm more of a fan of sean-nós dancing (damhsa ar an sean-nós = clogging, etc.) and set dancing myself than the newer style "Irish" step dancing coming back in from the States, let alone Riverdance, but no matter what kind of dancing you are into, these guys are seriously good. Precision timing. Ar fheabhas ! (Excellent!)

It is cool that the competition they won was on British television. It is important these days that a positive image of Ireland is portrayed in foreign countries. Our reputation isn't great at the moment out there in the big bad world!

One of the things I love about "An Jig Gig" is they welcome all types of Irish dance. You'll see sean-nós and brush dances, set dances, céilí dances, classical slip jigs, and step dancing that ranges from the wig set to more Riverdance-y stuff. It's really cool to see these different types of dances come up against one another.

I just saw part of an interview with the members of Prodijig and they all danced with Riverdance for about five years. That gave them a great start in terms of becoming professional about their dancing and business-like all in one go. What a training ground for what they are doing. It will be interesting to see how well they do.
