A chara-
Here's a first attempt anyway. For the most part the syllables line up, with a few extra unaccented beats needed. The biggest divergence is probably for 'Well I do', but right now it's all I can think of that still makes sense
Original - Irish in Bold - Literal translation in Italics:
One More Light -
Solas Amháin Eile -
One More LightShould've stayed, were there signs, I ignored?
Cúis áiféala dom d’fhulaingt gan m’aird.I regret that you suffer(ed) without being noticed by meCan I help you, not to hurt, anymore?
‘Nois an bhféadfainn bheith im’ chúnamh led’ chrá?Now could I help you with your torment? We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep
B' léir dúinn áille ‘s an domhan ina luíWe could see beauty, while the world was asleepThere are things that we can have, but can't keep
Ach más fada an lá tagann an oí(che). But however long the day, night comes (traditional phrase for 'nothing lasts forever')
If they say
Má deirtearIf it is said/If people sayWho cares if one more light goes out?
Nach cuma solas amháin eile? What does one more light matter? In a sky of a million stars
Is na mílte réalt(a) sa spéir (maybe 'réalta insa spéir' for beat?)
With thousands of stars in the skyIt flickers, flickers
Ag caochadh, caochadhFlickering, flickering (lit. 'winking')
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
Nach cuma am duine ‘bheith caite? What does it matter for someone's time to be spent/to be up?If a moment is all we are
Mura bhfuiltear anseo ach sealIf one is only here for a spellWe're quicker, quicker
Ar an saol seo, saol seoOn this earth, this earthWho cares if one more light goes out?
Nach cuma solas amháin eile? What does one more light matter?Well I do
Agamsa, is é is mór (with elided pronunciation 'gamsa, 's é 's mór /'ɡəmˠ.sˠə ʃeːsˠ mˠuːɾˠ/, or a'amsa, 's é 's mór /'amˠ.sˠə ʃeːsˠ mˠuːɾˠ/)
To me, it matters (lit. 'at me, it is it that is big')
The reminders pull the floor from your feet
Cuireann meabhrú air trí chéile mo chroíBeing reminded of it makes my heart upset/confusedIn the kitchen, one more chair than you need oh
Insa chistin, cathaoir bhreise nach bhfuil de dhíth óIn the kitchen, an extra chair that isn't needed ohAnd you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair
Is tá olc ort, is é is cuí duit, níl sé cóirAnd you're angry, it's fitting for you, it's not fairJust 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it, isn't there
Ach fiú murar léir ní, ní hé sin nach ann dóBut even it something isn't clear, it doesn't meat that it isn't thereThe rest is just repetition of lines above.
