Good Evening All

Looking at some of the posts on here I am sure there are some who must raise their eyebrows at the number of people who want English > Gaelic translations for their tattoos however mine does have a slightly different reason.

My father was born in Shillelagh in County Wicklow and I have been there many times and it always feels akin to second home and I can see why my father was very sentimental about the place. Sadly my father passed away in October of last year and whilst I have a bundle of memories to remember him by, I would very much like to get some text on a new tattoo to also remember him by.

I am hoping to translate the following into Gaelic to put alongside my tattoo:-

"My Father, My Friend, At Peace. I Am My Fathers Son"

Thanks in advance

Ian

M'athair, mo chara; faoi shuaimhneas. Is mise mac m'athar.

That should work, but wait for confirmation to be sure.

By the way, I added a semicolon after the "my friend" as I believe it's more appropriate than a comma, perhaps a grammar buff can confirm that too.

I wouldn't use the semicolon. Normally they're only used to separate clauses that are also complete sentences.

Everything else looks good to me.
