a in the Caighdeán. But, that doesn't mean the Caighdeán is correct.

Well, that's where we get into another can of worms.
The Caighdean Oifigiúil is the "official standard" for Irish. Problem is, it's not what anyone actually speaks. It was designed to provide a written standard for documents and such. It cobbles together bits and pieces from the three dialects without regard for how anyone actually speaks the language.
I say ignore the Caighdean. As I said before, any of these we've given you is grammatically and idiomatically correct.
