Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of Dinneen's dictionary? I think it's finally time (read: I'm reading older material) for me to purchase my own copy; the online one just isn't cutting it. However, I haven't been able to find a copy of the 1927 one, only the smaller, school one. If anyone knows where I can get one (preferably fairly cheap!), I would appreciate it.

Go raibh maith 'ad. I had seen that one but was worried it had issues, since Amazon mentioned something about it being OCRed. My guess is that was referring solely to the Kindle edition. Thanks!

I don't know what OCR means, but I've got one at home (that I ordered from Litríocht) and there's nothing wrong with it.

OCR - (optical character recognition) means it's scanned but not like a photocopy but the software recognises the letters and writes them as editable... or it makes a total bollocks of it.

Yes I've found out that there are several so-called publishers who scan out of print books and then put them up for sale, sometimes the prices can be quite steep. You can download the 1904 edition of Dinneen's dictionary from the Internet Archive, and there are other Irish-English dictionaries there as well.

The printed book from Litríocht is perfect, with the old Irish font.

It's just the "look inside" part on Amazon that didn't come out right. The printed book there is alright too.

plus Litríocht is a Gaeltacht based company focused on making Irish language books available,

As opposed to Amazons focus on working its staff to death and paying as little tax as humanly possible.
