Irish has "scríob amach" but my Gaelic dictionaries don't have "sgrìob a-mach" with this meaning

You could try asking on the forum that's attached to Am Faclair Beag or email them as they welcome suggestions. To find out if they understand what une baguette, otherwise known as a French stick is (yes I know that's open to misinterpretation - my sister once went into une boulangerie in Brittany and asked for three braguettes) you might like to contact a baker's shop in a Gaelic-speaking part of Scotland.

Thanks, actually so far I've used "aran Frangach" (in Irish we say arán Francach), maybe it's enough, I guess Scottish Gaelic speakers understand . Bata Frangach would be weird
