Perhaps someone may find this translation of use.
As always, please indicate if I have missed something - outside of the glass of water I should have had before making the soundfile :)

ORIGINAL VERSION IN GAEILGE:

Díoma leis an meáin

le Katie McGreal

Níl an Seanadóir Trevor Ó Clochartaigh ó Shinn Féin ná Treasa Ní Mhainnín ó Eagraíocht na Scoileanna Gaeltachta Teo (ESG) sásta leis an gclúdach a fuair agóid an deiridh seachtaine sna meáin Bhéarla.

Deir Ó Clochartaigh nár chuala sé aon rud faoi na tuismitheoirí aonair ná faoi na scoileanna beaga tuaithe a bhí i láthair ach amháin ar RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Deir Ní Mhainnín gur dhírigh siad isteach ar an bhforéigean amháin in ionad phríomhchúis na hagóide, fearg na ndaoine a léiriú do Pháirtí an Lucht Oibre.

Síleann Ó Clochartaigh gur comhcheilg a bhí ann ón tús.

“B’fhéidir go raibh sé socraithe (leis na meáin agus le lucht Pháirtí an Lucht Oibre) roimh ré,” a deir sé, “go gclúdófaí an foréigean amháin agus sin an spin a bhí siad a lorg ón tús.”

Ní raibh ionadh ar bith ar an Seanadóir Ó Clochartaigh gur éirigh an slua garbh.

Ní dóigh leis go dtuigeann an rialtas cé chomh feargach is atá na daoine.

“Bhí siad an-chiúin go dtí seo,” a deir sé faoi phobal na hÉireann.

“Bhí an chuid is mó den slua síochánta,” a deir Treasa Ní Mhainnín, “is mór an trua gur dhírigh na meáin ar an ngrúpa beag sin nach raibh.”

IRISH VERSION WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Díoma leis an meáin

Disappointment with the media

...........................

le Katie McGreal

by Katie McGreal

...........................

Níl an Seanadóir Trevor Ó Clochartaigh ó Shinn Féin ná Treasa Ní Mhainnín ó Eagraíocht na Scoileanna Gaeltachta Teo (ESG) sásta leis an gclúdach a fuair agóid an deiridh seachtaine sna meáin Bhéarla.

Neither Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of Sinn Féin (a political party) or Treasa Ní Mhainnín from ‘Eagraíocht na Scoileanna Gaeltachta Teo (ESG) (Organisation of the Schools in Irish speaking areas Ltd) are happy with the coverage that the protest at the weekend got in the English language media.

...........................

Deir Ó Clochartaigh nár chuala sé aon rud faoi na tuismitheoirí aonair ná faoi na scoileanna beaga tuaithe a bhí i láthair ach amháin ar RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Ó Clochartaigh says that he did not hear anything about the lone parents or about the small country schools who were present except on RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta (Irish language radio station run by the National Television network).

...........................

Deir Ní Mhainnín gur dhírigh siad isteach ar an bhforéigean amháin in ionad phríomhchúis na hagóide, fearg na ndaoine a léiriú do Pháirtí an Lucht Oibre.

Ó Mainnín says that they homed in only on the violence instead of the main reason for the protest, to demonstrate the anger of the people to the Labour Party.

...........................

Síleann Ó Clochartaigh gur comhcheilg a bhí ann ón tús.

Ó Clochartaigh thinks that it was a conspiracy from the beginning.

...........................

“B’fhéidir go raibh sé socraithe (leis na meáin agus le lucht Pháirtí an Lucht Oibre) roimh ré,” a deir sé, “go gclúdófaí an foréigean amháin agus sin an spin a bhí siad a lorg ón tús.”

“Maybe it was arranged (with the media and with the Labour Party supporters) beforehand,” he says, “that only the violence be covered and that was the spin they were looking for from the beginning.”

...........................

Ní raibh ionadh ar bith ar an Seanadóir Ó Clochartaigh gur éirigh an slua garbh.

Senator Ó Clochartaigh was not at all surprised that the crowd became rough.

............................

Ní dóigh leis go dtuigeann an rialtas cé chomh feargach is atá na daoine.

He doesn't think that the government understands just how angry the people are.

............................

“Bhí siad an-chiúin go dtí seo,” a deir sé faoi phobal na hÉireann.

"They were very quiet up to this," says he about the Irish public.

...........................

“Bhí an chuid is mó den slua síochánta,” a deir Treasa Ní Mhainnín, “is mór an trua gur dhírigh na meáin ar an ngrúpa beag sin nach raibh.”

"Most of the crowd was peaceful," says Treasa Ní Mhainnín, "it is a great pity that the media singled out that small group who were not."

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

I appreciate the replies. GRMA.
I notice that I had placed a line or two in the wrong place when compared with the original... so fixed that just now!

An-deas. I particularly like the way you break down the sentences. Most helpful. GRMA
