Hi! I am looking for the translation of "best friends" for a tattoo. Not necessarily the direct translation of each word but more of a common phrase for best friends. Also, if it is something similar in both Irish and Scottish gaelic that would be ideal!! Thank you!

In Scottish Gaelic, the spelling and pronunciation would be different from what one would use in Irish, although the basic words are very close. Here are several possibilities (the alternate version in each case is perhaps less common, but correct):

deagh-chàirdean or deagh-chàraidean
good friends

dlùth-chàirdean or dlùth-chàraidean
close friends / true friends

Two notes with spelling:

First up, you've added an extra "i" to càraidean
Secondly, "càraidean" means romantic couples -- friends is "caraidean" (although when it's càirdean it does have the long vowel).
