The Scottish Gaelic Language Forum has been taken over by spam messages, which this year have been arriving in such great numbers (over 50 pages of it on one particular day) that it can no longer be cleared out without spending many hours each week, and I'm the only volunteer moderator who appears to be available any more to do it. The forum should be considered abandoned for now. It's almost impossible for me to spot valid new queries among all the garbage, so I've stopped trying. I'm just a volunteer moderator, and not the owner of the forum, so I have no greater control over the forum than my limited authority as a moderator.

I'll continue to maintain the thread with useful references which is "stickied" to stay at the beginning of the queue, as well as the other threads referenced in that thread, since I've locked those threads and can protect them from spam.

Note that this thread is also locked, to keep it from getting spammed, so no replies will be accepted here.

I've removed the spam posts and introduced manual approval for all new members. That should stem the worst of the spam. Unfortunately, the bots appear to be using AI to respond to the questions, making it harder to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Please report posts with spam in them and we will eject the perpetrators.
