So what do you all do to celebrate the big day?

I must confess, I don't do much. I can't stand to go out and listen to "Danny Boy" and "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" and "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen." And one can only handle so many shamrocks and leprechauns and "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" T-shirts. And don't get me started on green beer and shamrock shakes!

And if another person says "Top o' the morning to you!" I may just scream!

Now if I could find a nice pub with traditional music and draft Guinness, it might be another story!

I get a lot more pleasure out of the Seachtain na Gaeilge events. We had a great gathering in Berkeley last week and, of course, the Irish Mass in Mountain View this past Sunday.

I think I'll spend St. Patrick's Day with my harps and my hubby...maybe have some colcannon-stuffed twice-baked potatoes (I didn't like corned beef and cabbage, even when I ate meat) washed down with a bit of Jameson's.

Erin go Bragh! (yes, I know it's really "Éire go Brách")

There's a huge St. Patrick's Day Parade in San Francisco every year. We'd actually planned to go up to the city this Saturday until we realized what day it would be (sure enough, March 17)...there's going to be no finding parking (or even getting through downtown) until that's over!

Would love to see a parade like that Bríd. The closest one to me is the Chicago Southside Parade. Unfortunately, it's usually ruined by the obnoxious ones who want to get drunk and urinate in public, and ruin it for everyone else. In fact, this past Sunday it was back after a few years absence because it had been disallowed. :S

It is a community center in dublin with a pub that the Irish language is spoken all the time And they will have craic agus ceol there :)

Chuaigh mé chuig an beithilín beo ansin, bhí sé ar fheabhas. Is áit iontach é Áras Chrónáin.

Unfortunately I'm working tomorrow and I have to be up early otherwise I would very much like to have gone to the Collège des Irlandais where a choir from Galway - Cois Cladaigh - have come over here to sing together with the Irish Chamber Choir of Paris this evening. Cois Cladaigh led by Brendan O'Connor are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year - perhaps Bríd might know of them?
