I think you need to refer to the original post. No one here gave you that translation.

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6906

There were a number of different options. It's always a good idea to take time and double, triple, quadruple check before you get inked.

Here's a breakdown of what Labhrás gave you in that post, the third one being the closest to what you have. I agreed with his options as any of those would work.

Éiríonn pian i neart. = Pain becomes strength. (lit.: Pain rises into strength)

Déanann neart den phian. = Pain becomes strength. (lit.: Strength makes [itself] from the pain)

Leis an phian a thagann an neart. = With pain comes strength. (lit: [it is] with the pain that comes the strength)

Both éirigh i (rise into) and déan de (make from) have the meaning "become"
and perhaps tar i (come into), too:

Tagann pian i neart. = Pain becomes strength. (lit.: Pain comes into strength)

The one I used was from a Facebook group and the lady was a native so that’s why I went with that.

The title of your post is "I hope you guys were right!"

If you took the translation from someone else without asking for a confirmation here, or you didn't use one of our translations, that doesn't make much sense. I mean, it may be alright and you'll have to get more input on it from others here and eslewhere but we weren't right or wrong about anything and we have nothing to do with it.

Wait for more comments from others.

Well, all Irish people are "natives". Around 40% tell the Irish census they are natives, because teanga dúchais, "native language" literally means "heritage language", and so anyone can claim that if they are of Irish descent. It is more like 1% who are the real native speakers, though. I don't think a tattoo is appropriate under any circumstances, and so it doesn't really matter either way if the wording if right or not. Anyone who thinks le pian tagann neart is the correct translation isn't a fluent speaker of the language. In fact, what she has recommended to you is the Google Translate machine translation version....
