Samhain is both a day and a month - as November 1st is Lá Samhna - and in effect the month is named after "Hallowe'en". So Samhain may be cited as the Irish for Hallowe'en, although Hallowe'en may be a kind of Anglo equivalent. [I'm not sure about this: maybe England originated in England or Scotland because there is a Celtic or pre-Celtic substratum both ethnically and culturally to Great Britain.]
