Can anyone tell me if the speaker on the audio files for "Learn Irish with Liam O Maonlai" is speaking Standard Irish or if he has a regional dialect (and if so, which one). Also, what would you say is the quality of his speaking-native, fluent, or ?

If you look up the information on the net about him, you'll see that although he comes from Dublin, his father was an Irish speaker from Cork, he was educated at a Gaelscoil and he often spent time in the West of Ireland. There is a discussion about him and his Everyday Irish course on the Forum.

Yes, with his grandfather in Carraroe. I don't know if his mother spoke Irish to him at home but his Irish would have a Conamara blas from his grandfather's influence anyhow. But listening to that first mpg I hear he speaks in a more standard Irish, like no native speaker would ever pronounce "féin" with an F.

Don't they pronounce it that way in Munster?

Afaik it depends on the place but in most places they pronounce an h, if I remember well. Have to check the linguistic atlas!

Yes, in Munster they do. A Cork man sent me this:
"féin is often pronounced with an f in Cork Irish -- after a prepositional pronoun ending in a vowel, it might be héin eg: dó féin === do héin. But in other circumstances féin -- or féinig. "
