I don't know how many scholars may be on this site, but I thought this was worth a try. Where nothing is ventured, nothing is gained, right?

I am actually looking for a translation to Old Irish-- I would have to make this difficult, wouldn't I?-- for research purposes. (Actually for the second draft of a novel based on Iron Age Irish culture and myth. Yes, I am aware that Old Irish is Medieval, not Iron Age, but to save myself migraines I've chosen not to reach back any further than than linguistically. Hahaha!)

Any way, I am looking for a translation for two words: defender and avenger. I've found an obscure reference to those being the names of two swords owned by Nodens Nuada, and I quite like the names, but I can't find the names translated anywhere. I know that the Old Irish word for "defend" is immdím, and that for "avenge" is indeich. (Defense is imdegail and vengeance is indechad, if that is useful.) I simply cannot find translations for "defender" and "avenger" any where. Please help! If this book is ever published, I will even thank anyone who can help me with Old Irish translations on the dedication. LOL!

Thank you for any help you can give me! Slán!
