Morning everyone,

I'm looking for some help in an accurate translation of a quote for a tattoo. I tried Google translate but I'm not sure that it is correct, as from previous forums I've been warned away from the accuracy.

The quote I am interested in is "My heart does not belong to this world" Google translates that to "Níl mo chroí bhaineann leis an saol seo"

Can you tell me if this is accurate or if it could be better translated into Irish.

Thanks a million

Good of you not to trust it, it's very wrong ;)

Something like

Ní leis an saol seo mo chroí should work.

Wait for confirmation on that.

Why does it say 'life' instead of 'world'? Both translations do this

Saol can be life as well as world. The Irish word for world as in physical domain would be "domhan" but that can't carry the connotations that it can in English. Saol is what you want here.

Also, I'm not sure I understand your question, but in any case, what Google gave you is grammatically incorrect.

Which I gave you. Wait for more input on whether or not it's accurate/has a mistake etc.

I can second Gumbí's translation and verify that "saol" is the form of "world" you want for this.

Do wait for at least one more to confirm.

No...you have three in agreement (Gumbi, me, and CaoimhínSF), so you're good to go.

Though there's certainly no harm in waiting for more!
