 Post subject: chun + gin ?

Maybe I'm imagining things but I could have sworn I read somewhere that "chun" is followed by the gin. Is that true? I can't for the life of me find wehere I read it.

So would it be "chun béime a chur ar...." seachas "chun béim a chur ar..." ?

No.
chun [béim a chur ar …]
Béim a chur ar … is a unit, béim is probably in accusative case (historically).
Such a unit is unchanged by prepositions in Modern Irish, except sometimes in Munster (e.g. chun an dí a ól)
