I've been learning Irish, and got a chance to visit Inisheer. I found that when speaking they said they didn't realize I was a new speaker because of my accent and confidence. In spite of that as soon as they spoke I felt lost and my confidence went away quickly. Where I live there aren't other people who are speaking or learning Irish. Is there any place online where I can find someone to speak with once in a while? I would love to practice speaking because I think that would help me further my understanding.

An bhfuil tú ag lorg ruda eicínt atá saor in aisce nó an bhfuil tú sásta íoc?

Is soar go breá, ach is féidir liom íoc.

In typing all this I might want to stick to the text a little longer. I just want to make sure that I'm not learning bad behaviors in my pronounciations.

If you change your mind, a friend of mine recommended this skype teacher:

https://irishandenglish.com/

I know she is making videos on youtube for Bite Size also these days

Scríobh sí é seo ar a leathanach:

i measc cuid mhór meancóg eile dá dtearn sí, ach is é an mheancóg "tá sé fear" an mheancóg is measa...
Tá mé buartha, ach nuair is múinteoir thú, bíthear ag dúil go bhfuil tú ábalta an teangaidh a labhairt agus a scríobh gan meancógaí a dhéanamh...

a Lughaidh, ná bí 'g éisteacht leis na cailíní atá a' múineadh air iTalki mar sin! Tá drochGhaeilge acab tríd is amach - rudaí mar "Tá mé trí fiche bliain d'aois" ag duine amháin acab agus níl a' duine eile níos fearr.

Tá's agam... d'amhanc mé ar shuíomh iTalki le feiceáilt cén caighdeán Gaeilg atá ag na múinteoirí ann...
Nuair a chluinim go labhraim féin níos fearr ná iad sin, deirim liom féin "aríst eile... má tá mé 'g iarraidh feabhas a chur ar mo chuid Gaeilg, caithfidh mé ghabháil 'na Gaeltachta agus sin a' méid...".
Amannaí ghním iontas an bhfuil múinteoirí ann a bhfuil Gaeilg cheart acu, seachas cuid do na múinteoirí ollscoile (bhí cupla múinteoir Gaeilg agam a bhí thaire bheith maith, in ollscoil Chúil Raithin) agus b'fheitear cupla múinteoir as a' Ghaeltacht.

Nuair is foghlaimeoir thú, chreidfeá nach gcluinfeá Gaeilg cheart in áit ar bith nó go rachaidh tú 'na Gaeltachta. Cha gcluinfeá ach Gaeilg uafásach in achan áit eile, nó chóir a bheith.
(Rud céarna ó thaobh na Briotáinise dó).

A Mhaighdeán tá sé sin sách dona.

I wonder if the script was written by somebody else. Or she was trying to translate the English version too literally, we know from years of experience on this forum that translation isn't always easy unless you're used to it.

She only says a few words here but she sounds ok. It's the only video I could find.

There are lots of classes held in the US for little money where you can practice. Also, immersion days, weekends are held throughout the USA. Check out www.daltai.com for their website which gives a list of some of these. They also have a Facebook page where you may be able to link up with another learner or Skype user.
