hello for everyone. 3 days ago, my newborn child was diagnosed with a very serious malformation.after long hours of hopeless waiting, and a long operation, our doctor told us that he is a fighter, and it will survive. in my baby's honour I would like a tattoo, and kindly ask you to help me with this translation in Irish gaelic :

"Not flesh of my flesh Nor bone of my bone, But still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute: you didn’t grow under my heart, but in it."

Of course it'll hardly rhyme as it will in English if the meaning is to be kept, but here's my attempt. I had to re jig the order a bit to keep the flow while incorporating the correct semantics. (For example, I said "but still my own little miracle" instead of what you have).

Ní feoil mo chuid feola, ná cnámh mo chnáimh, ach fós mo miorúilt bheag féin.

Ná déan dearmad choíche: níor fhás tú faoi mo chroí, ach ann.

It seems odd without the pronouns, but I could be wrong on that. They aren't in the English version after all. I know istigh isn't strictly needed, but given the possible confusion with ann, as an adverb, it might be clearer if we include it?

Hey, thanks. I blame the lack of lenition of "miorúilt" on autocorrect :P (Very annoying when it "learns" words and then corrects them to what it has learned even though that's still wrong). Typo on the cards though, thanks.

You're right about the pronouns I think. I got caught up on translating as close as possible to the English and forgot those.

I considered just ann being confusing (I even double checked chroí hoping I might have been wrong about its gender so that I'd be able to use the less confusing "into"), but I'm confident the meaning is still clear without "istigh". I could be wrong though.

So in total:

Ní feoil mo chuid feola thú, ná cnámh mo chnáimh thú, ach fós mo mhíorúilt bheag féin.

Ná déan dearmad choíche: níor fhás tú faoi mo chroí, ach ann.
