Please ignore other thread of the same name, This is my first day using this forum and did not realize I was replying when using the Quote button and not editing my original post. Maybe the Admin can delete it. Here is my latest revision of the prayer which I'm off to deliver in 15 mins as a draft to the club.

Gaelic American Club Prayer

Paidir Gaelic-American Club

Almighty God, our Father in heaven, we gather in Thy sight and in Thy holy name and by Thy infinite mercy and grace.

A Dhia uilechumhachtach, ár nAthair atá ar neamh, bailímid i do radharc agus i d’ainm naofa agus le do thrócaire gan teorainn agus do ghràsta.

We ask You to guide and direct us assembled here today.

Fiafraímid ort a threorú agus a stiúradh muid a cruinnithe anseo inniu.

Help us to conduct our business and deliberations in a spirit of true fraternity with malice toward none and charity toward all.

Cabhraigh linn a sheoladh ár ngnó agus pléití i spiorad an bráithreachas fíor gan mhailís i dtreo aon duine agus carthanachta i dtreo gach duine.

Help us to keep uppermost in our mind what is best for our society as a whole, and let us reject all purely petty and personal considerations.

Cabhraigh linn a choinneáil mar phríomhrud inár gcuimhne cad é is fearr le haghaidh ár sochaí ina hiomláine, agus lig dúinn diúltú aon smaoineamh a bhfuil ach suarach nó pearsanta.

Help us to make our organization a better one; one which truly reflects our Irish Christian heritage, so that it will be a credit to each individual member and to the community…through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Cabhraigh linn ár n-eagraíocht a n-éirí níos; ceann a léiríonn go fírinneach ár n-oidhreacht Chríostaí na hÉireann, ionas go mbeidh sé ina chreidiúint do gach ball aonair agus don phobal ... trí Íosa Críost, ár dTiarna, Amen.

It can take a while to do something like this. When you submit your draft, can you tell them that it's pending correction of the Irish?

Thanks Redwolf, I did that, giving it a watermark and side note just that. One of the lads there said there was no need, no one would know the difference. But I suspect that they are a few so I will submit a final copy when its ready.

You have to give us more tha 15 minutes notice for something that long.
And even if it was only a few words people might not be online when requested.

I changed a few things:

Gaelic American Club Prayer
Club Gaelach Mheiriceá

Almighty God, our Father in heaven, we gather in Thy sight and in Thy holy name and by Thy infinite mercy and grace.

Iaraimíd ort muide atá cruinnithe anseo inniu a threorú agus a stiúriú.

Help us to conduct our business and deliberations in a spirit of true fraternity with malice toward none and charity toward all.

Cabhraigh linn ár ngnaithe agus ár pléití (iomrataí - might be a better word I’m not sure) a dhéanamh i spiorad an fíor-bhráithreachas gan mailís d’aon duine agus le carthanacht do gach uile dhuine.

Help us to keep uppermost in our mind what is best for our society as a whole, and let us reject all purely petty and personal considerations.

Cabhraigh linn a choinneáil i gcuimhne gur b’é an rud is fearr le haghaidh ár sochaí ina hiomláine an príomhrud, agus lig dúinn diúltú d’aon smaoineamh atá suarach nó pearsanta.

Help us to make our organization a better one; one which truly reflects our Irish Christian heritage, so that it will be a credit to each individual member and to the community…through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Cabhraigh linn ár n-eagraíocht a fheabhsiú; ceann a léiríonn go fírinneach ár n-oidhreacht Chríostaíochta Éireannacha, ionas go mbeidh sé ina chreidiúint do gach ball aonarach agus don phobal ... trí Íosa Críost, ár dTiarna, Áiméan.

Wait for people to confirm. Especially on my spelling, and genitives. :D

A Bhríd Mhór, a chara

Tá a fhios agam go gcaithfidh mé dóthain ama a thabhairt chun freagairt a fháil.

Agus anois tá freagairt mhaith agam, go raibh maith agat. Tá sé níos fearr nár mo cheann féin.

I must not have set the automatic notification for this thread, so I only notice your response today when I logged on to double check.

I do appreciate the time you spent.

Best regards,

Des Nolan
