Please forgive me, I had pegged you for a man!
Redwolf and his husband have been happily married for years, it's quite common nowadays, especially in California.
But I'm joking, Redwolf is a woman (as far as any of us can tell).
LOL! (also LOL franc!)
I tend to use gender-neutral handles out of habit. Back in the early days of the internet (when dinosaurs roamed and floppy discs actually were floppy), almost all of us used netnicks, and many women preferred gender-neutral names out of fear of being harassed or stalked if people knew we were female. A lot of guys took gender-neutral names too (my hubby's go-to netnick is "Werepoodle)
Back in the days when I hung out on vegetarian message boards, my netnick was "erbivrus," which I used on other forums as well. I actually had a fundamentalist Christian guy get absolutely furious when he found out I was female, because he assumed the "us" ending meant I was a man (actually, the name was just a phonetic rendering of "herbivorous") He accused me of masquerading as a man, quoted a whole bunch of scripture, and told me he wanted to dance on my grave (real Christ-like, right?) Needless to say, I didn't hang out on that forum for very long!
I answer quite happily to "Erbie," "Red," "Audrey," "Ailís," and even "Mac" (from "Mac Tíre"). What people tend to call me usually depends on when or how we met. But my real name, as franc hinted, is "Audrey Nickel."
