I joined a small Irish conversation Group in Woy Woy, Central Coast NSW Australia in February this year, and we have had some fun together with most of the group Irish and regaining the language of their childhood. There are just 2 of us Australian: one genius, and me a beginner even after 18mths of Liam O'Maonlai and Buntus Cainte - slow progress but progress none the less. So if anyone is nearby and in need of hearing spoken Irish this could be the place for you. First and Third Saturday of each month except Dec & Jan, 2pm for "one hour" but we are usually still there at 5pm. Do get in touch if you are nearby, more would be welcomed.

I was out walking the other day with my Irish flash cards and encountered a group at the other end of the street. One man asked what I was learning, then responded "Oh that's difficult and I should know" - how small is this world, now I have an Irish speaker right here in my own street!!! Gold !!!!

A local theatre group did: Lovers at Versaille (pun on Lovers at first sight) and the Oz actors managed their Irish accents reasonably well with our Group co-ordinator's help. Clever play and difficult to do - well worth seeing.
