Delft or delftware, a kind of ceramic or pottery made in the Dutch town of Delft. My granny had lots of the stuff in her house - bowls, plates, jugs etc.

Rabhamar - this should be rabhamair. The editor Pádraig Ó Fiannachta was unfortunately an obedient servant of the CO crowd and his editing decisions can't be trusted.

I think the mother's brother was called Bob, and he knew this Uncle Bob well in London, and Máire was the sister of both the mother and Bob.

This assumes that UIRTHI was a typo for AIR.
