How interesting to find a quote from Attár on the Irish Language Forum! I feel like I am back in university!
I am sure you all have heard the story of this quote, but in case someone hasn't it is said that the King Solomon asked for a phrase relevant at all times... It is a very popular story in the Middle East and I have heard it many times but am a horrible story teller so had best not try to tell more. The original is the Persian (or here written in our Tajik writing style) Ин нез бигзарад. As you may know, there is no future tense here; it is a "perfective" aspect. This conveys the notion of completeness. It means literally that at some point this will have completely passed, this state or action will have become final.

In modern Persian this perfective-imperfective dichotomy has been lost and now it sounds very literary to use perfective forms (although in Iran they are still used for imperatives and subjunctives)

Anyway I apologize for these musings which did not really help with the translation effort at all...

What about these? I like these as idiomatically equivalent but not literal translations

Ní thugann gach rud ach a sheal
or
Ní thugann rud ar bith ach seal

Luggala, thanks to Gumbi, Caoimhín, and galaxyrocker, we have three confirmations. It seems going with Imeoidh sé seo leis is good. Show us a pic of your tattoo when you get it done. :D
