Utah...land of Mormons, ski resorts, red rocks, and rare, endangered, desert whales!

Out here in rural Texas we sometimes spray used transmission oil onto old barns (the wood walls) and sometimes ranchers
pour used oil along fence lines to control brush. A few years ago I was in court and the local prosecutor was trying to
prosecute an old black farmer for pouring 5 gallons of old oil down one of his fence lines. He had to appear about 5 times
leading up to his trial, when the judge (one of my all time favorites-old tobacco chewing, cowboy boot wearing) said to the
prosecutor "This is stupidest damn case in my court and this is a silly-ass law. I am dropping this case today against this man and I don't want to see another one of these cases in my court". I thought it was pretty hilarious. It makes you wonder where some of these
cases come from. I know it was intentioned for Houston, Dallas, or some other huge urban area, but it makes no sense out on the
range (especially with oil being pumped up out of the ground all over the county.)

Yeah...you'd think they'd be handing out awards for putting some back!

One of my favorite California laws is from Blythe...you're not allowed to wear cowboy boots unless you actually own at least two cows!

I still remember when Clint Eastwood (who may just have been one of the world's coolest mayors) overturned the "no ice cream" law in Carmel (we lived just one town over, in Pacific Grove, at the time)!

What a strange place. All these laws and yet guns are still legal.

This is the first time I've heard anyone use the term "blue law" to refer to any sort of dumb law at all. Where I'm from (St Louis), it specifically means the restrictions on the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Maybe it once had a broader meaning and narrowed as the stupid laws were repealed? That seems damn hard to credit.

Kind of the opposite. The term once referred only to liquor restrictions, but has expanded to include laws that are still on the books but generally unenforced/unenforceable.

Washington state, where I grew up, had some interesting liquor laws. One that used to drive my mom crazy: If you bought a drink in a restaurant bar while waiting for a table and your table was called before you finished your drink, a waiter had to carry your drink into the dining room for you...you weren't allowed to carry it yourself!

Oregon's got some odd ones too. In Oregon, a minor can't pick up and carry anything in a liquor store (including non-alcoholic beverages). Last time we were in Oregon my daughter picked up a can of soda to carry it up to the counter and the clerk almost had heart failure!

That's because the right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution. Amending the Constitution is a lot easier said than done.

I'm not sure they had the type of hardware that is available now in mind when that was written!

What a strange place..you can be impeached for lying to congress about a blowjob, but can sentence a retarded man to death in Arkansa, or invade a country, or do what you like really, but we must have guns to protect ourselves. I don't blame ye, cos the rest of the world is coming with their guns to protect themselves too. I'm not sure is that in their constitutions though, but it's coming. Massive debt, massive wars, massive hypocrisy...like Ireland except our politicians are cowards. If you were Iranian what would you be doing right now?

Can anyone translate this please?
