The spelling of the phrase has been resolved, so I’ll just add that the link works fine—you just have to remove the period (‘.’) at the end when you open it. The link was automatically parsed by the forum software, so the period that was supposed to end the sentence ended up as part of the link address by mistake.

Very interested in you doing the font, Let me know how we handle it.

Hi, again Seamus.

Umm, Ennistymon (Inis Díomáin) is in Clare, which is in Munster, not Connacht.

What I have done is made two versions, one with Éire go brách and Éirinn go brách:

When I looked up the old spellings, however, I found out that the original phrase is actually Éire/Éirinn go bráth, go bráth literally meaning "until judgment (day)", hence "forever". That was the old spelling, it was always pronounced the same as brách, hence the modern spelling.

Here are two versions with bráth:

These have been done with Bunchló Ársa GC font at 48 points, and are what the phrase might have looked like at the turn of last century, i.e., c. 1900 CE.

You can also play around with David's font engine here:

TextWriter: http://www.ellipsix.net/textwriter/render.html

In that case: use the following scripts:

Éire go brá\.c
Éire go brá\.t
Éirinn go brá\.c
Éirinn go brá\.t

Breandán,

Great work. These are just what I need. Thank you so much for your help. I don't know why I thought Ennistymon was in Connacht but I have been wrong with many thoughts before, so thank you again.

Regards, Seamus
