We are planning to have Guinness glasses engraved to commemorate our 20th wedding anniversary. Engraving is limited to 29 characters/spaces so it has to be short. Please help me get this right: “Tracy & Curtis Comóradh Fiche” or “Tracy & Curtis Fiche Biliana” or something else? Old Spelling or Connacht Irish would work too, if it happened to be shorter - my wife's family name is Lavin, which we understand to be of Connacht origin.

"Fiche Bliain" (note spelling!) is the only thing I can think of that will fit. "20 Bliain Pósta" ('20 years married') is one space/character too long, and even if it did fit, I think "Fiche Bliain" is better. Less is more, they say. "Comóradh Fiche" wouldn't work on its own. It goes without saying you'll be having it done in the beautiful old-style Irish script.

Comóradh is such a pretty word - too bad it is not going to work in a short phrase. I suppose we could go with a longer phrase and leave off our names, since we know who we are...

Well, if you're that attached to 'comóradh' and don't mind forgoing your names, here's another option: Comóradh 20 Bliain Ár bPósta - 28 characters/spaces - (Lit: "Commemoration of 20 Years of Our Marriage" = "Our 20th Wedding Anniversary").

But double-check with us before re accents, spelling, capitalisation of letters before you go ahead.
