I am doing a report on the Ról na mBan in the novel Séadna. If anyone has any helpful insights, or points to discuss I would be thrilled.

You're really going to want to look at the second part of the novel, the "match making" part, roughly chapters six to sixteen. The four major women in the Novel are all really archetypical so this shouldn't be too hard.

Máire Ghearra is a typical good Catholic woman who will probably become a nun.
Siobhán is boisterous and a tomboy who eventually calms and settles with a "good man".
Micil's mother is a wise old crone, more in touch with the "truth" than anybody else.
Finally there is the "bean chosnochtaithe", probably the Virgin Mary, who appears in Chapter 29.

So Séadna is in love with a good Catholic woman, but lets her be free from him (due to his curse and also it is suggested she has a calling to be a nun), avoids a tomboy, receives advice from a wise old lady and is saved by the "perfect woman" (The Virgin Mary).

I'd say it would be a very easy book to write an essay like "Ról na mBan" on.
