I was wondering if I could get a close interpretation of this. "Family First, Always" or anything similar. such as family above all else, etc. I am working on a project for my home which may turn into a tattoo eventually. To further explain, when I mention family, I am talking not just about blood. I am also referring to my battle family (example, military family, law enforcement family.)

I already have a design and a frame with my pictures in it, but I wanted to add the words Family First, Always" and also something to the effect "By Birth & By Battle" Again, I know I may not be able to get a literal translation of this, but would like something to that effect.

The only thing that I have come across and researched is "Mo Theaghlach Thar Gach Uile Ni"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the online Foclóir dictionary there are several phrases that cover the first one, but they are all quite long. I suggest that you could use the word 'treibh' here as it means a tribe, but it also means in Irish, an extended family.

Tá tús áite ag an treibh, i gcónaí.

(but wait for the others to give their opinion)

The word teaghlach usually refers to one's close family, or the people in one's household. The word muintir can refer to a broader group of relatives and people with whom one identifies, not necessarily all related, such as the people in one's hometown, so that seems like a good choice, as in:
Mo Mhuintir Thar Gach Uile Ní [note the accent, or fada, in the word ní]
