what's the difference between bhealach and bealach?
Lenition. The initial letter of an Irish word changes to show its relationship to the words around it. So, for instance,
a bhealach means "
his way" while
a bealach is "
her way".
In the cases of
ar bhealach,
ar is simply one of those prepositions which almost always causes lenition on a following noun. So there's no difference in meaning, only a difference in the grammar of the sentence.
Tá never causes lenition on its own, so it's followed by
bealach and not
bhealach.
