im trying out the endings for short verbs in the future, do all verbs ending in "igh" take the ending -ífidh? i was wondering as i was trying a few out and got to brúigh which just looks wrong with hte -ífidh ending

You mean "brúigh", right?
The future is "brúfaidh" in standard Irish. In Ulster it's brúighfidh (easier to learn ).

go raibh maith agat, yeah i meant Brúigh, just im not on my normally comp so fadas are lost on my for the title of the post. if brúaigh is brúfaidh in the future, why is luigh luífidh in the future? has the ú in brúigh anything to do with it?

I'd say it's more to do with sound than anything else (although I'm not 100% sure what the problem/inconsistency is as you see it).

brúigh ... ag brú ... brúfaidh
luigh ... ag luí ... luífidh
