I am looking to have the word "braveheart" translated into Irish (no preference of dialect). I recognize that there may not be a direct translation, so the closest approximation would be helpful (e.g. "brave heart" as two words). This is for a tattoo to recognize the bravery and courage of cancer victims/patients, both in my own family and in the community. Since it will be permanent, I want to make sure to get the translation 100% correct! Thanks very much for your help!

There are a few words for "brave" in Irish (possibly because the ancient literature was full of "bravado" ):

calma "stalwart, brave, strong"
misniúil "courageous, hopeful, cheerful"
cróga "brave, hardy, lively, spirited"
morúchtúil "stout-hearted, courageous"

Of these, like Caoimhín, calma was my first thought, especially for the alliteration, but I am wondering if cróga would not be even better alliteration:
