This one is mainly directed at Lughaidh. How would you use fá dtaobh de in questions?
Like, if I wanted to say "What is it about?": Cad fá dtaobh de a bhfuil sé? or cad a bhfuil sé fá dtaobh de?
normally "cad" isn't used alone except in Munster... Donegal has caidé or goidé (spelt as "cad é" in standard Irish - but this doesn't show that the d is slender).
So it would be "Cad é a bhfuil sé fá dtaobh dó?".
In theory, "Cad é fá dtaobh dó a bhfuil sé" would be correct but I'm not sure people use it.
Actually I've looked for occurrences of the question "caidé a bhfuil sé fá dtaobh de?" etc in both Tobar na Gaedhilge and Google, and I couldn't find almost anything. Maybe people say it in another way ?
I've just asked in a Donegal-Irish Facebook group , we'll see what native speakers answer.
- I'm far, very far from knowing everything about that dialect !
