How would this be pronounced?
I want to be able to learn to say it, but i'm an auditory learner
I'm not good with the phonetic alphabet, even though I studied it in grad school, and I'm also not set up to create a sound file. If you look at the first thread in this forum, I've provided links to sources for pronunciation. I suggest that you check them out, because Gaelic, like Irish, has sounds which are not used in English. As a
very rough guide:
Comraich nam Fairean Sgiathaiche
KUMM-rikh num FATH-un SHKEE-uh-khuh [emphasis on capitalized syllables]
kh = guttural sound, like the "ch" in the Scottish "Loch" or the German "Bach", except that in both cases here it would be softened (less "throaty").
The syllable "FATH" rhymes more or less with "bath" (with
American pronunciation), not with the "fath" in "father".
