We have just bought our house here in Ireland and we would like to give it a name.
So there's this song my wife loves, it's about the house waiting for a person to come home
and that house is said to stand in the rain but being protected or wrapped up (as if to protect) by wind...
I am looking for Irish for just that - wrapped up/protected/enshrouded by wind

I'm sorry to disappoint you and your wife, but I don't think that the idea of a house being protected by the wind from the rain would be easily understood by your neighbours. Traditionally they used to put ropes across thatched roofs with heavy stones attached to the ends of them just to keep the thatch from being blown away and to keep the rain out - there's even a proverb about not choosing a windy day to replace a thatched roof - unless of course it needed to be done urgently.

Here's a possibility:

clúdaithe le gaoth chosantach
wrapped in a protective wind

or, more briefly, just:

clúdaithe leis an ghaoth
wrapped by the wind

and, to coin a neologism (I think), if you want a simple compound name:
gaothchlúdaithe
wind-wrapped

I understand it is unorthodox, if you like,
to see wind as protective force but being a sailor
I see wind, while at times destructive, an element
giving momentum and the one that takes a sailor
home. A breath of Mother Earth.

Wrapped is probably more fortunate translation - verse is more or less
It stands wrapped by winds
Lonely in the rain
Through dusks and dawns
And a star atop poplar tree...

As far as neighbours go it's mostly cattle and barley
