Hi all! Noobie big time here, I have a driving desire to learn Gaelic but trip over it alot, and it hard to self teach. But, Im mainly of Irish/Scot/British descent and I love all things Irish and Celtic (is it ok to use the K- Keltic thing here?) and Im tryin' to teach myself Gaelic, and Ogham, as I am also into the Druidic thing also.
I am also writing a book, a fiction, LOTR style, in which my 'Ennish' elves are based on the Celts and they speak Gaelic as their language. I dont use Gaelic words proper, but rather an attempt at a phonic pronounciation key. I use this for my translations alot
http://www.abair.tcd.ie/?page=synthesis&lang=engBut Im not sure how accurate it is. I have written one book, it has not gone to the publisher yet but I dont have long and I wont be able to make any changes to the limited Gaelic/Ennish I have in it now. Im working on the second book now, and will prolly ask for some pretty strange translations.
Im a wife and mother of two beautiful children, I live in the states. I had a Warmblood named 'Anamchara' (we all called her 'Chara') but she was hit by a car, I trained her in Gaelic and would speak to her in my limited Gaelic. I am looking for another horse now, and I want to train her as well, tho I may ask if I am pronouncing a few things properly first, as my original Gaelic teacher went to Dublin and we lost contact.
I want to thank all of you ahead of time for your patience, your knowledge, and your time in helping me!
