Trying to learn Irish and listening to Radio Na Gaeltachta in the morning.
This morning I recall two words and rtry to wrtie them as I heard them, but I cannot find a translation online.
Daonra (possibly populatio from context?)
Rachtanas (sounded like agreement or discussion?)
The discussion, if I recall concerned roads in the Donegal Gaeltacht, or possibly E O'Cuiv on Galway roads.

Most of the speakers appear more interested in emphasising their 'blas' than in trying phonetic translation, but I can get the drift of some conversations.

Strange you couldn’t find daonra – you got both the spelling and the pronunciation meaning right – and it is on FGB, indeed listed as ‘population’. I happen to know the word from… Duolingo.

The second one perhaps could be riachtanas ‘necessity, need’?

Many thanks. I did find daonra on google translate, subsequently, but I has not looked hard enough on http://www.teanglann.ie.

My fault on daonra, I did not look hard enough.
Yes, riachtanas ( need, necessity) would, as far as I can recall, fit the context.

Míle Buiochas.
Beidh mé arais!!

Just a note that I split this topic because each part should have been in a separate thread. It can get confusing when two threads get interwoven. Please stick to one topic per thread, unless you're on a natural tangent from the original topic.
