Only has Ulster pronunciation at the moment, but I'm told there are plans to add the other dialects:

Works best if you enter text one word at a time.

This is a great site for anyone who would like to put sound to an Irish word or group of words. I copied the following from the FAQ on the site re other dialects:

Is there a choice of dialects?

Not at the moment, but there will be. The Cabóigín voice speaks Ulster Irish, and there will be new Cabógaí that will speak the other main dialects. We are currently working on a speech synthesiser for Connaught Irish, and then we will turn to Munster Irish.

An bhfuil rogha canúintí ar fáil?

Níl faoi láthair, ach beidh amach anseo. Labhrann an guth Cabóigín Gaeilge Uladh, agus beidh Cabógaí úra ann a labhróidh na mórchanúintí eile. Tá muid ag obair faoi láthair ar ríomhchainteoir do Ghaeilge Chonnacht, agus ansin, beidh muid ag díriú ar Ghaelainn na Mumhan.

Then the dialect wars will take on a new energy!

No, Saoirse, dialect awareness will rise. The only "war" is against English and the clone dialect swamping native Irish.

I was being facetious! No offence intended.

(Totally, OT, 'facetious' is one of the few words in the English language that has all five vowels only once in that order.)

None taken (and none intended from this end). People who know you will realise where you are coming from. ;)

I'm just cautious that those who don't know us don't get the wrong impression. It's a bit like being a parent. We want to have fun but we also have to be careful what we say and do around the newbies. They might end up mimicking us. :darklaugh:

I love your humour Saoirse.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

So do I, in reality, Bríd, it's the unintended consequences that worry me. :hide:

Just wait until a new dialect springs up in Kildare and then we'll really see things heat up.....
