I would like to get the Irish translation for four words for tattoo.
1. Family (wife and kids)
2. Love
3. Friendship
4. Loyalty

I'm sure they might be in this forum somewhere but have no idea where to start looking.
On a side note - just got back from 7 days in Ireland - Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Adare, Cork and Wicklow. WOW - what a trip. What a beautiful country!!

I see you have SG in the title. That stands for Scottish Gaelic and we usually ask people to post Scottish Gaelic requests in the "Gàidhlig - Gaeilge na hAlban - Scottish Gaelic" section for specialist attention. If Scottish Gaelic is what you are really looking for, please let us know and the mods will move your post there for you.

If you are actually looking for an Irish Gaelic translation, again please let us know. The mods can then edit your title for you so that you don't end up with a translation in a related but different language.

If you want both, we can also copy your thread and label the two threads differently to avoid confusion.

My apologies - I must have read the TAT requirements wrong. I am looking for the standard Irish Gaelic translation of the requested words and not the Scottish Gaelic translation.

The others are okay, but the last one just says "loyal" not "loyalty". I think we usually offer Dílseacht as a translation of "loyalty".

Do you think I have enough to go on or should I wait for a few more people fluent in Irish to have a look at those words and give their feedback?

All these four words are among the top ten on the list of what words most people come here to have translated; so there won’t be much discussion on them here. We usually recommend that three people agree on the best terms to use, but in this particular case, since they are so common and have been done so many times before, I’d say what you have now (including this post, which is also to confirm that they are right) is enough to be sure.

Always wait for at least three people to agree on a translation, especially if it’s for something permanent.

My translations are usually GU (Ulster Irish), unless CO (Standard Orthography) is requested.
