Most learners will identify with at least some of this.

"Benny convinced me that I had been making excuses and gave practical advice and encouragement to get started immediately." Many, many Irish people 'wish' they could speak more Irish, but in reality there is nothing preventing them for making some effort.

1. Start speaking immediately

You will make a ton of mistakes. That’s good. It means you’re trying new things. Aiming for perfection is a good way to stay silent.

There is the danger of ending up full of claques if no consideration is taken into in what form an expression takes

Thanks Saoirse for the post. I think the article should be read and implemented by every learner. One additional piece of advice I would give to any learner would be to try to avoid forums where negativity appears to be the rule of the day by would-be experts and "purists". The grammatical form of any given language is not intrinsic to the brain, and unsupervised learning leads to 'good enough' strategies, but rarely perfection. It is hardly negativity to make a simple point. After all, if it were as simple as speak and language come out of someone, we could re-create any language there has ever been, or ever will, or could (assuming similar human brains and bodies)
