Dia daoibh!

Could you advise some films or serials on Geailge? I cannot find these anywhere. Even irish films often are on English.
Do you know such films? For me preferrably to learn language with subtitling films and songs.

Go raibh maith agat :)

Ha! I think I found the first one.
It is Corp agus Anam - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1749056/ - irish series on Irish.
Will try to see and understand today.

I think you mean "in" Irish, gwennol. I'm guessing English isn't your first language; in English, when we want to say that a particular language is what's used in a film or a television show, we say it's "in Irish" or "in English." When we say something is "on" Irish, we mean it's "about" the Irish language.

There are a lot of Irish-language TV shows on TG4 (Corp + Anam is one of many). If you like soap operas, Ros na Rún is good. There are also quite a few children's shows, but those usually aren't subtitled.

Go to http://www.tg4.tv/index.html?l=ie (if you want the interface in Irish) or http://www.tg4.tv/index.html?l=en (if you want the interface in English) and you'll see that you have a choice of many programs.

If you're specifically looking for films (what we'd call "movies" in the U.S.) rather than TV shows, there are several short films in Irish available on YouTube. Search for "Gearrscannáin." One well-known short film is "Yu Ming is Ainm Dom" (My Name is Yu Ming). There's also at least one feature-length film I know of: Kings.

I'm sure others will have more suggestions, but this will get you started.

Great thanks, Redwolf

Yes, I prefer movies and will use TG4.
Besides, Corp agus Anam liked me after 2 episodes.

It's true that English is not my first language, I'm Ukrainian.
Thanks for fixing my errors! Now I will know.

When I will find some new movies, i will add here.

No problem! I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I wanted to be sure I was recommending the kind of media you wanted to see.

If you'd like to see a film that is both in Irish AND on Irish, there are excerpts from an animated feature on the history of the Irish language on YouTube as well. It's narrated in Irish, with subtitles, and the animation is great fun! The name of the show is "Scéal na Gaeilge," and you can find excerpts here:

Really funny animations)

And maybe someone knows how I can rename this topic into 'Movies in Irish'? It will be better for the search.

I think you have to ask a moderator to change it. You can't edit your own posts until you've made a certain number.

You wouldn't have to change "films" (they use "films" in Ireland and England, whereas we Americans are more likely to use "movies," but we all understand both terms)...just changing the preposition would make it clear what you want. The only reason I was confused is you mentioned "Corp + Anam," which is a television series (aka "television show" or "TV show") rather than a film.

Ok I will ask about "Films in Irish" if possible.
Besides, for me was very interesting got to know difference between movies and films.
In my country suppose that such as Corp + Anam is series. "TV show" means only real-time show for us.
And, for learning language series even more useful than films, because similar words retry every episode and it more easy to remember. So for learning I prefer series.

If you don't mind working without subtitles, I've recently discovered a children's cooking show at TG4 called "Bia Linn." It's a good one for listening practice, as most of the food terms are familiar, and repeated frequently:

Also, in terms of feature-length films, there's the wonderful film adaptation of Máirtín Ó Cadhain's "Cré na Cille": http://www.iftn.ie/?act1=record&aid=73& ... ws&force=1

Oh...and speaking of repetition, here's another you might like:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... faoi+ghlas

An Grá Faoi Ghlas was a short serial that was part of the "Turas Teanga" TV-based learning program. An episode was broadcast with every episode of Turas Teanga. It's a play on reality shows. The actors deliberately "over-act" and speak very clearly, to make it more accessible to learners, and there's A LOT of repetition. You might want to scroll through the episodes to see which are shown with English subtitles...it was an option on the DVDs.
