Hello, I am new to this forum. I am looking for a correct translation for "See you soon, Grandmother" in Irish Gaelic. Thanks in advance for your help.

I suggest -
Slán leat go fóill, a Mhamó - NB Mamó is the equivalent of 'Granny', if you want the word for grandmother, here it would be - a Sheanmháthair.

Thank you franc 91. Is there any difference between Sheanmháthair and Seanmháthair?

In Irish, when you're addressing someone, you use what could be called the 'vocative' - this is preceded by the particle 'a' which means that the first letter has to change - you have to add an 'h' which indicates that the letter is 'aspirated' and that its pronunciation has changed. In this case, the first letter 's' is pronounced as an 'h'.

It's pronounced as a "w."

Hold on a sec, though. I wouldn't say "slán leat go fóill" for "see you soon." It means "goodbye for now." Is that really what you want, or do you really, explicitly, want to say "I will see you (again) soon"?

For the latter, I'd say something along the lines of "Feicfidh mé ar ball [or "arís"] thú, a Mhamó."

Well, I meant "I will see you (again) soon" at the beginning, but on second thoughts "goodbye for now" is better. Thank you for your explanation Redwolf :)

In the dictionary, for - see you soon again, they give: slán leat go fóill beag - and for - I'll see you soon again - feicfidh mé arís thú gan mhoill (which means 'without delay', but it's often the way you say 'soon' in Irish). I was thinking that this second phrase would be a bit too long, seeing as it's for a tattoo.
