Hi, Looking for a tattoo translation. My family is from Ireland. I was thinking about one saying: Love you to the moon and back or love you to the moon and stars and back.

To get us started; a very literal translation:

Standard Irish: Mo ghrá leat go dtí an Ghealach is ar ais uaithi

Standard Irish: Mo ghrá leat go dtí an Ghealach is na réaltaí is ar ais uathu

But it sounds as if your love is about to leave for the moon and your saying your good bye and take my love with you to the moon and back when its translated so literally.

A more idiomatic way might be:

Tá mo ghrá dhuit chomh buan leis an bhfarraige= My love for you is as constant/ expansive/ ever lasting as the sea.

I've seen:
chomh leathan leis an bhfarraige (as wide/broad as the ocean/sea)
and
chomh buan leisna flaithis (as enduring as the heavens/heaven)

Leathan works too. You can also use fairsing wjich might work better with farraige.

Tá mo ghrá dhuit chomh fairsing leis an bhfarraige
