Brian,
where did you get 'Boann' and 'Trogan'?

Also, the directions are unfamiliar. If they are older names or nicknames I'd like to know to note that

Dia dhuit a Jay Bee,
I don't know where I got these names from. Over the years I have collected all sorts of strange information on Old and Middle Irish. I keep all this in my 1959 edition of De Bhaldi but unfortunately none of it is dated. All I can say is that the notes on the
constellations etc seem quite old. I have a feeling that I harvested them from Sengoidelc forsin Eterlin which you can find at www.smo.uhi.uk/sengoidelc/iul

Thanks for that. I'll note the ones that are different and when all the astronomy stuff is done, I'll put it all together.

This is the newer link: http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/sengoidelc/iul/

I'm laways aware of Breandán's desire we don't leave holes in the site, but I'm not sure how else to proceed :)

Dia dhuit arís a JayBee,

All I can suggest is that you list every name you have for each constellation or star and let others use whatever one that pleases them, otherwise you will end up frustrated. I still use names of things I learned in childhood and when not understood by others can lead to interesting conversations! I have just finished re-reading Scéal fá Dhá Chathair le Charles Dickens sa sean cló (1933)
which reminded me how much the language has changed in eighty years and how difficult it would be for a young person to read
it today. So persevere and do the best you can.

I'm not complaining; I appreciate having the option to add in words I wouldn't have had otherwise :)

Astronomy has proven to have a lot of vocab. I suppose maybe no-one need quasars etc but it's hard not to take them into account once you know of them

English speakers can pick up an 1859 first edition of "A Tale of Two Cities" and read away, while your 1933 Irish edition - the use of language, spelling and script - would be a major struggle for most Irish speakers educated after the 50's/60's. Well done "Modernisers"!
