I've tried doing this before (important words and some less important but related in semantic fields), but I've lost the material before so I'm going to instead post one thing per day or 5 a week. People can help if they wish.

Here are the constellations. A lot of them are not what traditional Irish speakers would have used. If any of the Munster lads has anything to add, please do on that account

I got most from focal.ie but I do know that there were (are?) trad names for more of them. Of course, the other galaxies can only be modern.

I had a list of more terms but the backup drive with that failed and so as I'm sick of doing things again and again I'm going to find what I can and clean up and add new bits that I've found to be important based on my own projects (for example how time, space, co-ordinates, measure and number are all related)

I recall reading somewhere (Beresford Ellis, I think) that most of the old texts dealing with astrology/astronomy have never really been studied, and also Ireland has like other countries followed variously its own stuff, then Graeco-Roman and Arabic in turn, so who knows how layered the material is

We called it the Plough - An Céachta.
