I can't find this anywhere in the dictionaries - the word is - cóin. It's from -

Fearas: Cóin
Cur síos: Marcáil baile le cóin ná cailc i leathtaobh den chlós. srl

Without reading the article I would have said it was "cones" as in the cones you put down when playing games and sports outside.

Cone= cón

cones= cóin

fearas (trealamh/ equipment)
