i don't know lads should these be on the same thread or not, but these are some of the phrases that gave me serious problems when younger. This is another one..

How much do I owe you?

In Munster, and when I say Munster I mean Corca Dhuibhne for me, I couldn't get my head around this phrase til I met Tomás an Bháid on the great Blasket one night with a skinful of drink and he took the time to explain what dictionaries rarely have the delicacy or space to do. he taught me other things also that may be repeated in a Gaelic speaking whore house!

How much do I owe you ?

Cé mhéad atá agad orm ?

"Cá mhéad (airgid) atá agat orm?" or "Cad é an méid (airgid) atá agat orm?"

Different threads is the best way so the discussions around them don't become confused. Great series of threads by the way, Rossaí, a chara! 8-)

The one I have got from West Kerry is " Cad 'tá ag teacht chughat?"

I have seen that construction more often as a sort of indefinite sentence, where the source of the money or whatever else remains unspecified...and although I have been to West Kerry, even on The Great Blasket, but more's the pity I never learned much Irish there.

"An bhfuil d'airgead agat a raibh dóchas agat go bhfaighfeá? - Níl. Tá céad punt eile ag teacht chugam."

Paróiste Múrach is where the "purest" or the best speakers are but it's off the tourist trail as such. The Blasket is something to behold alright, my favourite place on the world.

Cé mhéad atá le tabhairt agam duit?
... is nice and simple and has my vote!
