I've been reading this man's blog and he has some very interesting discussions about what does and doesn't work in language education. He doesn't speak Irish, but he does speak Scottish Gaelic (among other languages) and teaches English at the University of Corsica. I wouldn't endorse everything he says, but for anyone involved in teaching, this is definitely worth a look.

Go raibh maith agat!

Tà beagan agam, I just never really got round to learning properly. I was going to take a class when I spent a year at the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Skye studying through Scottish Gaelic, but there was a timetable clash with another one of my subjects, so I never got round to it.

I'll pick it up again one of these days, as I plan to take a few weeks touring the west coast of Ireland on a bicycle. (Yes, I know, I'll make sure I've got good waterproofs!)

Well I'm glad my link attracted a new member. When you do decide to take up the Irish, this forum is a good place to get started. Between us, I think we have every book and course available, so people here will be able to steer you towards the better resources.

Luckily for you, you come from the one place on earth where it rains more than it does in Ireland, so you'll be fine.
