Yes. More precisely, the slender "schwa" is called "schwee". It is midway between eh and ih, as you've indicated in your correction.

Non-native speakers tend to pronounce both shwee and schwa as uh.

This goes well over my head, all I know is I'm well able to promounce Éire correctly! Aplogies if i'm not able to represent them using English phonetics. I would pronounce eh as "a" in the same way as some one would say abc.. (alphabet)
