How close would you say Scottish Gaelic is to Classical Gaelic compared to Irish Gaelic and why?

Scottish Gaelic: features that are close to CG :
- same system of independent and dependent forms of verbs (also partly true with Ulster Irish, at least as far as irregular verbs are concerned)
- the dative case has survived (not the case in most Irish dialects)

Irish:
- most words, prepositions etc are more similar to the CG ones than those of SG
- the irregular verbs of Munster and Ulster Irish in particular are closer, as far as I can remember
- the spelling of pre-1950s Irish is very close to that of CG, while SG has some innovations
- its pronunciation is closer to CG (SG has been influenced by Old Norse & has some innovations)
